KAIA's Sustainability Assurances
It's easy to make big claims about sustainability, but more expensive and challenging to stay true to those commitments. Over time, KAIA Clothing commitments to sustainability will be listed on this page, keeping our manufacturing transparent.

the campaign for wool

The Campaign for Wool is a global endeavour initiated by its Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales, to raise awareness amongst consumers about the unique benefits offered by Wool and call attention to the ecological advantages it delivers.

KAIA Clothing is a signatory to the Dumphries House Declaration in which we commit to the promotion, education and support for wool fabrics and yarns. Please follow the link to view the 10 commitments that we support and adhere to.

linen fabric

I've always loved natural fabrics, and linen, being fast growing and requiring far less water than cotton or synthetic fabrics, made the ideal choice. I purchase my linens from a specialist supplier in Belfast, that weave the most gorgeous linen. With over half a century of experience behind them, my supplier is accredited by the IRISH LINEN GUILD and MASTERS OF LINEN GUILD and has supplied theatrical linens to movie sets of Game of Thrones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings to name a few.

Leadership and influence

I seek to use my leadership and extensive retail experience for the greater good and am a listed stakeholder  for the APPG (All Party Parliamentary Group) for Ethics & Sustainability in Fashion and the APPG for Textiles & Fashion.

fur-free retailer

Fur Free Retailer is the world’s leading program to connect fur-free companies to consumers seeking ethical goods. The online Fur Free Retailer list provides consumers accurate information about a retailer’s fur policy, allowing them to make an informed choice when shopping. The program specifically aims to encourage companies to go fur-free and further the spirit of ethical consumerism.

KAIA Clothing is a member retailer.

bamboo fabric

The Dusk collection includes beautiful  jersey pieces, made from  increasingly popular bamboo fabric. Bamboo is a rapid growing plant, which is replaced in-season, making this fabric planet friendly and sustainable. Bamboo processing requires no pesticides, and far less water than cotton to manufacture, so is kind to the environment.

I purchase KAIA's bamboo jersey from a UK supplier, whose stock is fully traceable to the factory of origin in Turkey, where their organic and soil friendly certification can be viewed here.
